Since upgrading to OSX Sierra and iOS10 I can't sync my Photos between the OSX Photos app and iOS Photos via iTunes. I don't use the iCloud Photo Library as I have too many pictures. The sync between iPhone and iTunes via USB Cable gets aborted. Can you please help?

Does it not work at all? Have you tested to sync just a few photos and not all at once? Is it possible to sync at least one JPG file to the iPhone?

Des the sync finish, if you do not try to sync photos at all? It might be a different synced item that is causing this message.

I have tested to sync just a few photos (e.g. remove or add an album), and even this fails. The error always appears after 2-3 minutes of the status message "Reading Photos library", then "Waiting for changes to be applied", then the error message pops up.
Try, if removing the iPod Photo Cache from your Photos Library will help:

Tried both (cache folders and repair library) - still same error messages when trying to sync just a few pics or the entire library... 😟
Interestingly though the WiFi sync works with my iPad Pro (same iOS version), so there all the pictures are newly synced.
